We should all reconsider our attitude towards God

On Holy Wednesday’s evening, April 24, 2019, his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios did the service of Nipter (Washing of the Feet) in the Holy Church of All Saints.

In his preaching, the Bishop of Corfu insisted on the meaning of betrayal of our Lord, by Judas Iscariot, who belonged in the closed circle of Disciples. Devil took Judas’ heart, as mentioned, both in the Holy Gospel and the hymnology of Holy Thursday’s Matin. During this period, there are many conversations on who was responsible for the death sentence of Jesus Christ. Is Pilatus responsible? Was he afraid of the crowd? Is the Great Conference of Annas and Kaiafas responsible? The loud crowd? Our Lord was sacrificed for our own salvation. In every divine Liturgy, His sacrifice takes place and each Christian takes the Blood and Body of Christ.

Referring to the modern period, his Eminence underlined that we with our attitude make Christ sad on a daily basis. We are still in our sinful condition and we deny the following to the Way to the  God Father, the one suggested by Jesus Christ. We should all reconsider our attitude towards God and to think what He has offered to us and what we give Him back

In his closing, Mr. Nektarios called the believers into unity, through faith, so that by spiritually struggling, they will unite with Jesus Christ.

Before the Service of the Nipter, his Eminence did the Service of the Holy Unction in the Metropolitan Church of Virgin Mary the Spilaiotissa, with the participation of many people.
