We pray to Saint Panteleimon to heal and give courage
On Thursday afternoon, July 26, 2018, his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands did the Vesper in the Church of Saint Panteleimon in Ozia Village of Paxoi and the Panegyrical Divine Liturgy, on July 27,in the Holy Church of Saint Panteleimon in Mastoratika, Paxoi.
In his preaching, his Eminence analysed the life of Saint Panteleimon the Great Martyr, who as a doctor helped his fellow people without asking for money, following God’s invitation to give freely what has been given to them. His faith to the Triune God was not accepted by the ones in power and the roman authorities ordered to be tortured in the martyrdom where he gave his soul to God. Our Lord blessed him by giving him the divine grace. He is considered among the Anargyroi saints, healing and protecting people.
Moreover, his Eminence noted that disease is a part of human nature and results from their fall from paradise. With disobedience, people felt pain, death and parting of soul from the body. On the other hand, repentance and return to Christ marks the alive relationship with the source of life and overcomes death.
Moreover, Mr. Nektarios when mentioning the recent fires in Attica, underlined once more that this destruction is not a punishment from god but rather a result of human behavior which originates from temptation. It is a great sin to think like this. Christ does not act like this. He is love and father of mercy. That’s how He revealed himself to us.
In his closing, his Eminence prayed to Saint Panteleimon to heal and give courage to our fellow people in Attica.
