The only one who can save us is Jesus Christ
Bishop of Corfu, Mr. Nektarios “the only one who can save us is Jesus Christ”
On Sunday, December 24,2017 in the church of St. Spyridon the Wonderworker, the Matin and the Divine Liturgy took place with his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios. In his preaching, the Bishop of Corfu based on the day’s part of the Gospel, mentioned that the Son and Word of God became human and sanctified him.
When reading the Genealogy from Adam till Joseph, someone will find David the prophet too, who made a lot of sins, wanted the wife of Uriah the Hittite and sent him to the war to be killed. However, he regretted his sins and wrote the Psalms. Our Lord is born by a Virgin, giving to the fallen human the possibility of communicating with the Triadic God.
The Angel who presented to Joseph’s sleep, requests that the baby is named Jesus, which means Saviour. Jesus Christ is the only one who can save human beings. Humans are saved through faith, regret and participation in the Holy Mysteries of our Church.
Moreover, our Lord was named Emmanuel, which means that God is with us. Everyone who fights our Church, should finally realise it, that we are not alone.
Christ is always with us. Anyone opposed to God, in the end, is defeated, pointed out his Eminence. In his closing, Mr. Nektarios asked from the loyal Christians during this Christmas, to participate in the Divine Liturgy, in order for the Saviour of this world to be born in their hearts too.
