THE DEPARTURE TO LORD OF THE ARCHIMANDRITE FATHER EFTHIMIOS DOUIS
The Holy Metropolis of Corfu, Paxos and the Diapontian Islands, with feelings of human sorrow, announces the departure to the Lord of the Most Venerable Archimandrite Fr. Efthymios Douis, Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Y.Th. Paleokastritissis.
The deceased was born in 1947, was ordained a Deacon on 26.04.1966 by the blessed Metropolitan of Corfu and Paxos Methodius and an Abbot on 29.12.1974 by the blessed Bishop of Corfu and Paxos Polycarpos. In 1984 he received the office of archimandrite and was appointed Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Y.Th. Paleokastritissis. From 1988 to 2002 he was Chancellor of the Holy Metropolis and Priestly Head of the Holy Church of Saint and Miracle Worker Spyridon of Corfu. He served in various Parishes as Pastor and President of the Ecclesiastical Councils of Pelekas, Potamos and others. as well as abbots in Holy Monasteries of our Holy Metropolis.
The departure procession of the deceased Professor will take place on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 12 o’clock in the Katholikon of the Holy Monastery of Y.Th. Paleokastritissis, presiding over His Eminence the Metropolitan of Corfu, Paxos and the Diapontian Islands Mr. Nektarios. They will be preceded on the evening of the 12th to the 13th of February by a holy vigil and on the morning of the 13th of February by a hierarchical divine service, officiated by His Eminence the Metropolitan of Thessaly and Phanariofersala, Mr. Timotheos.
The sacraments will be performed on the basis of the restrictive protection measures against covid-9, under the responsibility of the Abbot’s Council of the Holy Monastery.
