On Thursday afternoon, February 20, 2020, the Bishop of Gibraltar and Europe of the Anglican Church, Mr. Robert, while on a visit in Corfu to the anglican Community of the islands, visited his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios.
Mr. Robert expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Bishop of Corfu because the Orthodox Church treats the island’s anglicans with kindness and love and has good relations with them, while stressing that the Anglican Church is seeking through its ecclesiastical fellowship to tackle Europe’s social and environmental problems and to give Christian witness.
Answering by Nektarios, after welcoming the English bishop, emphasized that Orthodoxy knows what separates it from other doctrines, but he believes in a dialogue of hearts and love, and stressed that Corfu has cooperation because many of its mixed marriages require the support of all Christian doctrines. The Bishop of Corfu underlined to Mr. Robert that times need truth and humility to bring Christians closer! Mr. Nektarios offered him the publishings of the Holy Metropolis as a gift and wished that the prayer of the Orthodox tradition “in favor of all unity” be fulfilled.
