The Bishop of Corfu visits the last camping period in Corfu Town
In a hard day for our homeland due to the destroying fires, his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands visited the last camping period in Corfu Town. The programme was organised by the Youth Office of the Holy Metropolis, using as a basis the Spiritual Centre, due to the construction work carried in Kassiopi.
In the fourth camping period, along with the responsible people, 65 young girls, students of Junior High School and High School who participate in a rich programme called Community of Saints. Mr. Nektarios underlined that our homeland expects from the youth to fight with love, zeal for education both worldly and spiritual but most importantly, with selflessness, paying attention to the failure of the older generations to build a society without faith, Saints, love.
The Bishop of Corfu mentioned that the real route goes through the Church. In its Saints’ faces, like Saint Vasileios, Saint Spyridon but also more modern ones, like Saint Luke from Symferoupoli, our Church shows what it means to care and love not only for the material progress but also for the relationship with God, who saves.
He expressed his joy, because children provide this world with happiness, dynamism due to their ability to interpret this world and life based on another point of view, which makes him feel young again. He also expressed his sadness for everything that goes on in our homeland and invited the young people to become better having as criteria our Church, their schools and Universities, paying attention to the moral principles of our tradition!
The young girls who participate in this programme sang and presented elements of it, while his Eminence gave his blessings and had conversations with them.
The programme “CAMPING IN THE CITY” will be completed with a great trip, on Tuesday, July 31,2018 in Grevena and Valia Kalnta of Pindos.
