THE BISHOP OF CORFU IN THE HOLY MONASTERY OF ANO XENIA

On Saturday morning, February 15, 2020, his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios did the Divine Liturgy in the Holy Monastery of Ano Xenia, in Orthris mountain in Almyros, Magnisia. By the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Bishop of Corfu did the 40day memorial service of the late deacon and fellow brother of the Holy Monastery father Titos Xeniotis, along with the local Bishop of Dimitriada and Almyros, Mr. Ignatios.

In his address, Mr. Nektarios pointed out that he had been with the monastery for many years with Fr. Titus, from 1986 to 2002, when the Bishop of Corfu served as its abbot and new monk before his election.

Mr. Nektarios pointed out that the memory of the blessed Father Titos coincided with the feast of St. apostle Onesimus, the disciple of Paul the Apostle, who was a slave to a rich man who later became a Christian. Saint Onesimus was a child of obedience, like all monks in Orthodox monasteries. Christlike love comes from obedience. This love was shared by the blessed Father Titus, who dedicated himself to the Virgin Mary and supported the struggle of Metropolitan Corfu to renovate her monastery. He was a follower of the prayers of the fathers who established the monastery as carriers of God’s grace. He fought for it and left with the grace of God to cover him.

Death is a passage from the transient to the eternal, from the saddest to the most remembered. This passage was experienced by Fr. Titus, who lived through the time of his departure from this world, to meet the love of God as life and ascension.
