Sunday of Orthodoxy in the Holy Metropolis of Corfu
On Sunday, February 25, 2018 the most pious Bishop of Salona, Mr. Antonios did the Matin and the Divine Liturgy in the Metropolitan Church of Virgin Mary the Spilaiotissa.
In his preaching, the most pious mentioned that Orthodoxy is not an ideology. The Orthodox Christian stands for the accurate faith, the one given by Jesus Christ and His Saints Apostles. Moreover, faith in Christ is not a religion, because a religion consists of the human attempts to find God. On the contrary, Christianity is the revelation of the Triune God in the world. The second Face of the Holy Trinity, the Son, becomes human because of love to save His creature.
Furthermore, Mr. Antonios talked about the special blessing that Corfu has, to host the imperishable holy relics of Saint Spyridon the Wonderworker from Trimithounta and Saint Theodora the Empress who both fought for our Orthodox Faith. Saint Spyridon in the First Ecumenical Synod and Saint Theodora validated the decisions of the Seventh Ecumenical one.
In his closing, the Bishop of Salona wished that all Orthodox Christians to be blessed becoming part of the Kingdom of the skies, glorifying the Triune God.
It should be noted that due to the bad weather, the Litany of the Holy Relic of Saint Theodora was realized within the Church, with Mr. Antonios being the first.
