Statement of the Bishop of Corfu Mr. Nektarios on the Statement of the 22 Bishops of Macedonia

In his statement, his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios underlines:

“ With great attention, I read the statement of 22 bishops of our Macedonia, where they ask from the Greek authorities not to sign the deal of Prespes within the Parliament. I am in accordance with this statement of my brothers Bishops of our Macedonia and I ask on my behalf, not to move with accepting this disastrous agreement for our homeland.  After the political issues, we will have some ecclesiastical too.

I , myself, address the Greek government, both to the Greek parties and to every Greek member of the Parliament, not to participate in the ruining of the history, tradition, truth that Macedonia is part of Greece and Greek too. We should keep in mind, the speech of the late Archbishop Christodoulos, who asked us not to back off anything that alternates and changes our national rights.”
