Sanctification Service in the Ecclesiastical Music School of the Holy Metropolis of Corfu
On Monday evening, October 22, 2018, his Eminence the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands did the Sanctification Service for the new school year in the Ecclesiastical Music School “Saint Arsenios” of the local Church at the Spiritual Centre.
Mr. Nektarios initially thanked the responsible of the School, Archimandrite Ioustinos Konstantas, Chancellor of the Holy Metropolis of Corfu, the artistic director, Mr. Ioannis Sxoris and the teachers, Mr. Nikolaos Makropoulos, Mr. Georgios Ladovrechis, father Nektarios Bokos and Mr. Georgios Lavranos, underlining the importance of attributing the high meaning of our Faith, through the rich hymnology of our Church, making God’s people able to communicate with Christ’s truth.
Earlier, the Bishop of Corfu talked in the School of Young Catechists of the local Church, stressing the notion of pedagogy, a sine qua non, for a leader of a catechism, in order to get new people into what he has experienced living within the Church. Executives need three elements: a) love for Christ and for people, b) awareness of the work they offer, and c) willingness for ministry in the Lord’s vineyard. Also the catechist must be embraced by the spirit of apprenticeship, which is rewarded by Christ.
Then his Eminece thanked the executives of the School of Catechists, Protopresbyter father Themistoclis Mourtzanos, General Prelatic Warden and Director of Youth of the Holy Metropolis of Corfu, Archim. Chrysostomos Koutsouris, Protopresbyter father Georgios Bogdanos, but also all the executives.
After the Blessing, Mr. Nektarios gave the degrees to the students of the Ecclesiastical Music School.
