Saint George’s memory celebrated in the Holy Metropolis of Corfu
On Monday, April 23, 2018, his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios did the Divine Liturgy in the celebrating church of Saint George in Mandouki.
In his speech, his Eminence praised the deep love and the courage of Saint George, who even though originated from a wealthy family and had a military position, he denied all the worldly glories and fought against the lie, the fallacy and the idololatry.
At that time, Roman emperors demanded that their citizens worship them as earthly gods. On the other hand, people unable to cut off their passions, indicated the pseudo-gods of antiquity as their gods.. Saint George in this grove of deceit, raised his stature and confessed the Risen from the Dead Jesus Christ as His Lord and God. Christ had prepared His disciples concerning the persecutions that would exist, because of their faith in Him, whom the lords of the Jews had killed. Trust and love in God give power to man to withstand the difficulties that the enemy of faith puts forward. Even if they take away his life, his soul can not be hurt. The truth of this is proved by the blood of the Martyrs of our great faith in the centuries.
In addition, the Bishop of Corfu noted that today, unfortunately, faith in Christ is being persecuted. The religious arm of globalization, pan-religion, is the modern form of idolatry and fallacy. After much regret, we see the new generation of Orthodox Greeks getting acquainted with the religious syncretism, through the new books of the religious courses. In these books, which can only be characterized as bad texts, the Incarnated Son and Word of God, the second Face of the Holy Trinity, is presented as a very good teacher who founded another religion next to the Buddha and Muhammad and therefore, humans simply choose which religious tradition expresses them the most.
What is happening today in our homeland is the mystery of lawlessness. In addition to this, the change of the identity cards of Greeks with new ones, which will carry biometric elements, as well as microchips, will be added so that all human transactions will be recorded. These plans are aimed at nothing else than the preparation of humankind to accept the son of loss, the Antichrist. The various satanic centers that promote these designs have their own people everywhere.
Anyone who speaks of Christ and warns believers of all that comes is automatically described as conspirator or, at best, graphic. We have the duty as baptized Christians to confess the truth that is not an idea, but a person, our Lord. At present we have the martyrdom of consciousness, but we must be ready to confess Christ with our blood too.
In his closing, after congratulating the teachers of the school attending the Divine Liturgy, Mr. Nektarios asked the faithful to intensify their spiritual struggle, so that Christ can empower them, through the embassies of Saint George.
