Saint Apollodorus’s memory celebrated in the Holy Metropolis of Corfu
On Sunday, June 10, 2018, his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios did the Divine Liturgy in the celebrating Church of Saint Apollodorus, Bishop of Phaeacian.
In his address to the faithful Metropolitan of Corfu, on the occasion of the apostolic reading of the day, the Epistle to the Romans of Apostle Paul emphasized that the honor and glory of God are entitled to the one who serves the good, the same God , living by Christ and seeing in the face of his brother the Lord Himself. Today, however, people seek their worldly wishes and values, with their selfish energies, while overlooking what one really honors and exalts them, Jesus Christ.
Apostle Paul notes that in the day of judgment, Christ will not condemn man because Christ saves, but man’s conscience is the one who will control his deeds. The criterion will be love, how much it is, eliminating himself and persecuting his brothers. Those who know much about God’s faith and commandments will ask for much, that day. The rest will be judged according to the unwritten law of consciousness, which controls both the rational and the actions of the people. In this context, there will be a form of “battle” between goods and other accounts.
Moreover, his Eminence, referring to the feast of St. Apollodorus, Bishop of Phaecian, stressed that he himself participated in the First Ecumenical Synod of the 318 Holy Fathers in Nicaea, where he signed the minutes. Saint Apollo, like the rest of the Fathers, led by the Holy Spirit, had reasonable goods and preached the truth of our Orthodox faith, while fighting the illusion and deception that at that time had been represented by the heresiarches Areus.
Concluding, Mr. Nektarios asked the faithful to acquire, with their spiritual exercise, purity of minds and goods, while at the same time resisting the mystery of lawlessness that is already happening in our homeland, since the owners ceased to have majesty. Now they have, as they claim, neutral thoughts, obedient to the spoken word of the New Order.
