PRIEST ORDINATION IN THE HOLY METROPOLIS OF CORFU
On the morning of Sunday, September 20, 2020, His Eminence the Bishop of Corfu, Paxos and the Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios, did the Divine Liturgy at the Church of Saints Apollodoros and Efstathios in the Pagrateika area of Corfu.
During the Divine Liturgy, the Bishop of Corfu performed the ordination of the former deacon Fr. Prodromos Lekarakos. In his address to the newly ordained, Mr. Nektarios reminded him not to get involved in the proceedings of life, as the priesthood is a function of salvation and ministry of man, which requires devotion, confession and struggle. The priesthood presupposes a renunciation of ourselves. We are called to give priority to our spiritual life and to lift up the cross of Christ and the cross of our brothers. Sacrifice and prayer is the way to catechize our people. It takes obedience, practice and love and God strengthens!
The new priest will serve in the village of Vouniatades.
