Our National Holiday celebrated in Corfu

With its annual glorification service, our National Holiday of the 28th October, was celebrated in Corfu, at the Metropolitan Church of Virgin Mary the Spilaiotissa. The glorification Service was made by his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios along with local authorities. The glorified speech was made by the philologist and historian Mr. Demetrios Zymaris, secretary of the Reading Society in Corfu. Then a memorial service took place with the annual parade of schools, parts of the Red Cross, the scouts, Parts of the armed forces and the local Philarmonies, “Kapodistrias”, “Spyros Samaras”, “Mantzaros” and “Palaia”.

The Government was represented by the general secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mr. George Voutsinos.
