Our children consist the Hope, in a world which wants to eliminate Christ
On Sunday afternoon, December 17, 2017, the Christmas Feast of the young people of the Holy Metropolis of Corfu was organized by the Youth Office of the Local Church in the full-of-people ampitheatre of the Chronically Suffering People’s Foundation. The main theme of the Feast was the following: “The Word became flesh”.
In the event (in the order which they appeared) participated the following: The Ecclesiastical Music School of the Holy Metropolis “SAINT ARSENIOS” under the direction of the teacher Mr. Georgios Ladovrechis, children from the Kindergarten School “ELENI BELLOU” of the Holy Metropolis, young people from the following parishes: Holy Virgin Lambovitissa Afras, Agios Georgios of Mandouki,, Agioi Pantes of Corfu Town, Holy Virgin of Vlachernon of Garitsa, Agios Nikolaos of Sinarades.
There was also a multimedia presentation of the Youth Office of the Holy Metropolis of Corfu. Then more people from the following parsihes: Holy Virgin Eleousa of Potamos, parishes of the old town of Corfu, Agioi Martyrs of Anemomylos, Holy Virgin of Alepou and Holy Virgin Eleousa of Koinopiastes with the Children’s Choir “Galilaia”, under the direction of Ms. Dimitra Kalogeropoulou.
In the closing of the event, his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands Mr. Nektarios, after thanking from the bottom of his heart , all the people who contributed in this event, congratulated, deeply enthusiastic, the children, while pointing out that they consist our Hope, in a world which has put God aside.
Our life may not have the most optimistic prospects, but the Church shows the right way. The defamatory catechetical and youthful work of our Church has results. These results are our children and those who fight in this field. This fight shows that hope cannot be lost since it is our Christ! It is a strong proof to all those who have set our Church as their target with their power and have changed our identity in favour of the so-called globalization and multiculturalism.
The Bishop of Corfu stressed the fact that this feast was an opportunity to promote and support widely the effort made by the Parishes, the Priests, the local people and the parents in order to keep the presence of the local Church alive for the young people.
Moreover, his Eminence invited everyone not to forget the fact that without Christ, Christmas makes no sense and to participate in the Christmas Divine Liturgy.
Lastly, it should be noted that presbyter father Spyridon Triantafyllos and father Georgios Bogdanos had the responsibility of the event.
