Our Bishop in Tinos

After the invitation of the local Bishop, of Syros and Tinos, Mr. Dorotheos the Second, his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios had a prominent position in the Polyhieratic Divine Liturgy in the Holy Worshipping Place of Virgin Mary the Evangelistria in Tinos where he did the preaching. The previous day, August 14, he participated in the great Archieratic Vesper in the Holy Church of Virgin Mary in Tinos.

In his preaching, the Bishop of Corfu having thanked from the bottom of his heart Mr. Dorotheos the Second, for the honoring and kind invitation, praised the Lady Theotokos by characterising her whole life as an incomprehensible miracle.

Saint Anna’s conception, our Lady’s mother, in a very old age was an inexplicable miracle. The Annunciation of the Lord and the conception of the Son and Word of God, without the experience of a man, cannot be understood by the human brain.

However, the humble daughter from Nazareth never did anything to boast or brag, but she fought everyday as Lord’s servant. Even her departure to the skies after Her Dormition, is an inexplicable miracle.

The decline could not touch Her who became home of the Creator of the universal world. It is an inexplicable miracle how can the Pantokrator Lord be contained in a constructed place. Virgin Mary departed to the sky and took the position next to God.

Moreover, his Eminence explained the meaning of the miracle. A miracle is the mark, the intervention of God in this world. On a daily basis we become witnesses of Lord’s miracles through the embassies of His mother Virgin Mary and all of His Saints.

Especially this blessed island of Tinos, covered by Virgin Mary’s Grace thousands of worshippers visit it in order to deposit their pain, problems and gratitude to the Platytera of the Skies.

There are many fellow people, who cannot experience all the rich donations of God, though. The reason for this is one. The distance of the modern human from the source of life, Jesus Christ.

When someone willingly distances themselves from God, then they are far away from the Divine Grace, resulting in the darkening of their mind and becoming prey of temptation and sin.

In his closing, Mr. Nektarios wished the Champion Leader, Virgin Mary to cover and guard our Nation, especially during the difficult days that our homeland is going through.

By the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Bishop of Corfu participated in the Litany of the miraculous sacred image of the Evangelistria of Tinos.
