Nativity of Theotokos celebrated in the Holy Metropolis of Corfu
On Saturday, September 8, 2018, his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios did the Divine Liturgy in the celebrating Holy Church of Virgin Mary Lady Faneromeni (Theotokos of the Foreigners).
In his preaching, his Eminence emphasized that Our Lady is the scale that leads us to heaven. The Patriarch Jacob’s scale in the times of the Old Testament was the preface of the Most Holy Theotokos. With the birth of Our Lady, the infertility of both her parents and the entire human race is solved. Through Her, the plan of the Divine Economy was realized by the incarnation of the Son and the Word of God. Saint Luke, Archbishop of Simferopoli assimilates Lady Theotokos with a very large tree that stands out on the slope of a mountain and is surrounded by shrubs and smaller trees. Virgin Mary is the offering of the Human race to the Triune God. She is already a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven and pounced on the throne of God, praying for our salvation. Salvation is the endless communion with Christ and with His Saints. This is, after all, the destination of man.
In conclusion, Mr. Nektarios wished the Supreme Virgin to guard and cover our homeland, at a time of great difficulty, where people walk in their lives without a spiritual compass, having surrendered to materialism, alienated from the source of life, Jesus Christ .
