LET’S NOT BE AFRAID TO SHOW OUR WISHES AND LIMIT OURSELVES

On Sunday noon, January 13, 2019, at the spiritual centre of the Holy Metropolis of Corfu, an event of the Parents’ school of the local church took place with great participation. Mr. Elias Liamis, a well-known author and teacher, Dr. of Theology and Music, was the main speaker on the following subject: “Some courage for parents and partners” based on his own book with the same title (ARCHONTARIKI Publishing.).

The speaker pointed out, among other things, that parents’ and children’s relationships today can not prevail in either the indiscriminate ban or the absence of limits. Parents today, in their anxiousness, their children are not deprived of anything, they cease to communicate what they want themselves, and they are tired of waiting for their children to understand them, but also to get angry as they find ignorance.

In Life, we need to criticize ourselves n order to understand our mistakes and not to have a sterile humbleness, in which our ego remains dominant and generates either whining, anger or depression.

In our times, gratitude is not popular, as capitalism relies on lack and need, not gratitude and simplicity. But in life we are called to fight because without war we are not given anything. But war is primarily against passions and not against others. This requires both the couple and the parents in relation to the children to understand it. That is why life in the Church is not “what you get” but “what you give”.

Mr. Liamis pointed out that we need our gaze to be compassionate, our loving mood and give opportunities both to the couple and to the children. Prayer and renewal of the relationship, as well as sacrificial spirit change the course of the family!

After the speech, a dialogue followed, while three creative workshops were organized for the children of the families, with the educators of the Kindergarten School of the Holy Metropolis “ELENI BELLOU” and the wife of the author, Mrs. Nadia Liami- Stamatiou.

The Bishop of Corfu, Mr. Nektarios sent his wishes and paternal love through the General Prelatic Warden of the Holy Metropolis, Protopresbyter father Themistoklis Mourtzanos.
