Since 2011 the Nursery- Kindergarten School “ELENI BELLOU” started its operations in preschool education, for infants and children aged from 6 months to 5 years old. Our area is of excellent standards and provides a safe and happy environment where we apply modern pedagogical methods and take care of the childern while teaching them to learn through pleasant and creative activities. Our basic prerequisite is the complete development of each child within a familiar environment that provides to them security and protection full of new experiences and knowledge, necessary for their better integration in the society.
Through observation, experimentantion and discovery, children learn to approach the world in their own way. The activities provided enable them to discover their uniqueness and show their talents. Everything it derived from the interests and needs of the childen, through a cross-thematic approach to various subjects. Collaborative learning promotes collaboration, responsibility, development of initiatives and teamwork. Children get to know our history, religion and culture along with the natural environment and social and cultural consciousness. They learn how to live by using the experiences of daily life. EDUCATION PROGRAMMES The education and training programmes of our nursery- kindergarten school “ELENI BELLOU” are implemented by specialised teachers and are based on the development by focusing in the differences of children. Our goal is for every child to feel free to develop its personality along with the support of their learning the traditional values. CHILDREN IN THE AGE OF 6 MONTHS TO 2 YEARS OLD. For children of this age, our programme includes activities that help them a) socialise through team play b) develop their intelligence through learning new words from the daily environment c) develop their moving abilities through various games and finally d) develop their verbal skills through songs and music. CHILDREN IN THE AGE OF 2 TO 3 YEARS OLD.
For children of this age, our programme icnludes activities that are associated with Physical, Social, Mental and Aesthetic Education. The activities take place on a daily basis for 10-15 minutes. During the day, children are allowed mostly to play freely with objects and also make various arts and crafts. The methods used are based on different materials of games and observation. What is more, Physical Education plays an important role and aims at organising and consolidating a set of skills necessary for the children’s bodily-biological-kinetic system while utilising their potential and ultimately helping in their creative expression.
As far as their social development is concerned, the provided education is aimed at their self-care and personal hygiene but also at the socially acceptable development. In the field of Mental education, the programme aims at the development of competences and skills on the level of perception, senses, judgement and imagination. Finally, in the field of Aesthetics, children get to know literature (fairytales, songs, poetry), arts and crafts and theatrical games.
CHILDREN IN THE AGE OF 3 TO 4 YEARS OLD For children of this age, the education activity becomes more complete. The child learns to work in groups. The daily activity programme includes 3-4 activities that last around 15 minutes each. Free play is included in the programme of the class and becomes more specific. In particular, in the field of Physical Education, the most important is the development of movement (becoming more flexible and fast, binding of the muscles, proper body position), the development of fine mobility and the understanding of how the body works.
As far as Socio-emotional Development and Education are concerned, the child gets to know for the first time a set of concepts regarding information, knowledge and experience about the situations of social life, the customs of our culture. At this stage special emphasis is placed on the cultivation of the child’s speech. With special exercises his vocabulary is enriched and a correct speech structure is formed. In the field of Mental Development and Education, the child gets to know various modes of thinking, pre-mathematical concepts (Sizes, Numbering, Counting, Measurements), understands the concept of time and space and conquers the ability to concentrate and pay attention.Finally, in the field of Aesthetic Education, they become familiar with all forms of crafts, music, poetry, fairy tale and theater.
CHILDREN IN THE AGE OF 4 TO 5 YEARS OLD. For children of this age, the environment takes the image of a school more, giving the child the satisfaction of becoming a student. The activities during the day are 4-5, lasting 15 ‘- 20’ (minutes). The programme followed in the classroom is: Awareness of the child’s physical image.. Organising their movement and orientation in space and time.. Ripening of thin mobility. Information, knowledge and experience about situations and phenomena of the natural and social environment.. Engaging in activities that encourage thinking, justification and evaluation to conquer premathematical, pre-narrative, and pre-writing concepts.. The expression of experimentation in the various forms of art (painting, plastic, theatrical improvisations, rhythmic)..
Contact with the customs and customs of our culture. Children are dynamically involved in the learning process, take initiatives and are the ones who shape the programme according to their interests. The kindergarten teacher assumes the role of mediator while also shapes the conditions for the complete physical, emotional, mental and social development of the infant. These procedures result in the creation of a strong personality that will help children become successful future citizens. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION In our programmes there are many activities dealed with religious education.
Each morning and before and after each meal children are saying their prayers. Once per month they participate and take the holy communion in the liturgy that takes place in the nearby church of Holy Trinity. Stories from the bible and the life of saints of our orthodox faith are taught every day and traditional and national values are in our programmes. At the end of the lesson, each June, there is a fest in which the majority of the children participate to share with the parents their progress.
Also we organize fests occasionaly, in the national memory days (28th of October, 25th of March, 21th of May) and before Christmas. FACILITIES Nutrition Nutrition in the Nursery – Kindergarten School “ELENI BELLOU” is considered particularly important because children of this age need a rich diet to build a strong body. For this purpose, the weekly diet program consists of a variety of nutrient-rich foods according to the instructions of our Dietician.
The food is prepared on a daily basis by using fresh and strictly selected materials. Breakfast and lunch are provided. PARENT COUNSELING- MEETINGS The Nursery – KIndergarten School “ELENI BELLOU” organizes Seminars with specialists, parents’ meetings and other activities during the school year. INSURANCE COVERAGE The Nursery – Kindergarten School “ELENI BELLOU” provides insurance coverage for all children throughout the school year in cooperation with “NATIONAL INSURANCE” company.
MEDICAL CARE The Nursery – Kindergarten School “ELENI BELLOU” has a continuous and close cooperation with a pediatrician throughout the school period. The pediatrician visits our school every week. Transport The children are transferred to the nursery – kindergarten “ELENI BELLOU” by their parents.
