INSIDE THE CHURCH THE LITANY OF SAINT SPYRIDON FOR THE CELEBRATION OF HIS MIRACLE
On Sunday, November 1, 2020 (First Sunday), Corfu commemorates the miracle of rescuing the island from the plague by the patron saint of the place, Agios Spyridon. The program of worship events will be as follows:
Saturday, October 31, 2020: 6.30 pm Great Festive Vespers officiated by His Eminence the Bishop of Corfu, Paxos and the Diapontian Islands Mr. Nektarios.
Sunday, November 1, 2020: 7-11 in the morning Matin and Hierarchical Divine Liturgy by His Eminence the Bishop of Corfu, Paxos and the Diapontian Islands Mr. Nektarios.
11 in the morning: Prayer, according to the Corfiot tradition, and procession of the sanctuary inside the temple (as is done during the procession of Basmata).
Due to the measures for the protection of public health, there will be a specific and predetermined number of people who will be able to be inside the Holy Temple, who must comply with the prescribed measures. According to tradition, the Municipality of Central Corfu is responsible for the litany and the Holy Metropolis for the regulation of the ecclesiastical ritual.
The sacred services will be broadcast live on the webtv of the Holy Metropolis and on the website www.imcorfu.gr, as well as on television channels. but also websites that will be able to get an image for free from the livestreaming of the Metropolis.
There will also be a live radio broadcast from the radio station AGIOS SPYRIDON 91.1 FM, which also broadcasts online. The holy temple will remain open after the end of the litany, so that those who wish, can worship the relic of the Saint.
