In the modern times, there are people who make fun of the Church and Its Divine Services
On Sunday, October 29th, 2017, his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, mr. Nektarios made the Divine Liturgy in the Church of Saint Marina, in Marmaro village.
In his preaching, the Bishop of Corfu analysed the Gospel of the day, the two miracles of Jesus, the healing of the bleeding woman and the resurrection of Iaeiros’s daughter. The bleeding woman was healed as soon as she touched Christ’s clothes because she had fierce Faith to God. In Christ’s face, she saw the Messiah, the Savior of the world. The true Faith to Christ means primarily to have trust to Him and be ready to go along with Him. Faith is internal power.
As far as the second miracle is concerned, the Bishop underlined the fact that some people who were present in Iaeiros’s house were laughing. This happens today too. Some people laugh with Christ, with Church and make fun of Its Divine Services. The current condition of our society, where everything is ruined, results from the aforementioned mean behaviour. When someone puts Christ aside, then he/she has no limits in his/her life. May there will never be a moment, when that person will have to pray to God to deal with the difficulties of life.
In the end, mr. Nektarios asked from th loyal Christians not to deviate from our faith to God and the tradition of our Country, because that is the most important treasure that we now have and ought to maintain and give it to the following generations.
