Holy Saturday in Corfu
The epitaph of Saint Spyridon was litanised on the morning of Holy Saturday, May 1, 2021, together with the holy relic of Saint Spyridon, the patron saint of the island, which was saved from the plague thanks to the intervention of the Saint.
The small procession, which took place in the square of the streets that enclose the church of the Saint, was attended by His Eminence the Bishop of Corfu, Paxos and the Diapontian Islands Mr. Nektarios and the holy clergy, while they paid tribute,the philarmonic bands “PALAIA”, MANTZAROS and KAPODISTRIAS, lined up and without moving and played the standard marches for the day
After the end of the procession, Mr. Nektarios performed the Vespers and the Divine Liturgy of the Saint Basil at the Metropolitan Church of the Most Holy Theotokos Spilaiotissis, chanting the anthem of the Three Children according to the Corfiot style.
