Going through difficulties is part of every person’s life that chooses to follow Christ

On Monday, January 22, 2018 the Matin and the Divine Liturgy took place in the Church of Holy Trinity, in the Chronically Suffering People’s Foundation “The Platytera” to celebrate Saint Timothy.

In the end of the Divine Liturgy, his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands did a memorial prayer for the rest of the late Bishop Timothy’s soul.

In his speech, the Bishop of Corfu mentioned Saint Timothy, Bishop of Ephesus who learnt the holy mysteries of God by Saint Paul.  In his pastoral letters, Saint Paul asks Timothy to go through difficulties for Christ’s love. Going through difficulties is part of every person that chooses to follow Christ.

Moreover, his Eminence underlined the fact that on this day the local Church prays for the rest of the late Bishop Timothy’s soul. He followed the example of Saint Timothy and went through difficulties too, leaving, however, an important work in the Church of Corfu.

The most significant is the Chronically Suffering People’s Foundation “The Platytera”, where elderly people find love and affection. Another aspect is the centre for Disabled Children of Local Church for children with special needs. The Holy Metropolis not only continues this work, but also supports it because they see Christ in the eyes of every human.

In his closing, Mr. Nektarios invited all the faithful people to pray for the rest of the late Bishop Timothy’s soul, because every person departing this world, benefits very much from the memorial prayers.
