Episcopal Vesper for the celebration of Saint Jason and Sosipater’s memory in the Holy Metropolis of Corfu

On Saturday afternoon, April, 28, 2018 the Episcopal Vesper was made with his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios in the Holy Church of Saint Jason and Sosipater, where the holy relics and their tombs are.

The preaching was made by the Archimandrite, Father Ioustinos Konstantas, Chancellor of the Holy Metropolis of Corfu. He referred to the life of the celebrating Saints, Jason and Sosipater, Kerkyra and Saints Seven Martyrs. Apostles Jason and Sosipater “planted” the seed of our faith in the Saint bearer Corfu. This displeased the Roman authorities, causing the two Apostles to be imprisoned. But the truth, the Light and the love of God, led to repentance seven crime prisoners, who believed and confessed Christ, sacrificing their lives for Him.

Also, the daughter of the Prefect of the region, Kerkyra convincingly confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and God, taking also that crown of martyrdom. The seed of our flamboyant Faith is watered with the blood of witnesses. The one who truly loves, lives at the same time in truth, enlightened by the Light of Christ. In other cases, love is simply transformed into a feeling of sympathy for someone.

In his conclusion, Father Ioustinos asked his Eminence to pray to the Lord so that the flock of the local Church obtains the love of God, in connection with the truth and the Light of Christ, having as its standard the celebrating Saints.

After the end of the Vesper, there was a litany of the sacred relics of Saints Jason and Sosipater and the icon of the Resurrection, with Mr. Nektarios and the participation of a crowd of people.
