Deformation and counterfeiting of the Hagiographical experience of Church’s Mysteries by the modern Protestantism”

On Sunday afternoon, November 25, 2018 at the Holy Church of Saint Spyridon the Wonderworker, the Vesper preaching with speaker the Protopresbyter father Evangelos Koutras, responsible of the anti-heretic fight of the Holy Metropolis on the following subject: ” The Deformation and Counterfeiting of the Hagiographical experience of Church’s Mysteries by the modern Protestantism”.

In his speech, father Evangelos underlined that according to Saint John from Damascus: :”heresy is the wrong belief about faith.” Plane uses many ways to fight the truth and with these ways it becomes self-destroyed. God revealed Himself to humans, setting a new plan for the world’s salvation. This revealed Faith is the basis of this plan. Every deformation of this, even if barely possible, alters and changes God’s Face, that is it denies God.

Moreover, father Evangelos pointed out that the modern Protestantism using rationalism and emotions, is left apart from the saint spiritual experiences of the first Church and  Saints Apostles. The various points of the Protestantic Church (reject of the Tradition, sola scripture, reject of Baptism, Priesthood, Divine Liturgy etc. ) are results, as Saint John the Sinaitis comments: from the vainglory”.

In his closing, father Evangelos underlined that Orthodoxy is demanding. Christ wants us as a whole. The not-true is wrong, does not have actual foundation, it simply denies reality.

In Protestantism, the one which does not have actual foundation, does not have the real power, the rescuing power of Faith. In short, Plane cannot save people.
