Cutting of New Year’s Cake in the Holy Metropolis of Corfu
On Monday morning, December 31, 2018, his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios blessed and cut the New Year’s Cake in the Bishopric House of the Holy Metropolis, with the presence of many local politicians and military people, priests and local people.
In his speech, Mr. Nektarios talked about the previous year, a year that can not be considered as a good one referring to our Church or the State.
He also counted three ways of seeing the world: a)the historical time, during which we have our own successes and failures, b) the functional time, where within our Church, both the clergy and the people pre-taste the Kingdom of Heavens c) the eternity, where there is no time, but the eternal now, where humans communicate lovingly with the Triune God.
Moreover, his Eminence underlined the need for unity within our society, in order to deal as one with the various attacks on our homeland.
In his closing, Mr. Nektarios wished to everyone a happy and blessed, full of God’s Grace year.
