On 30th of September, 2021, the first clerical meeting of the priests in the Northern Part of Corfu took place with his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxos and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios in the vilage Agrafoi.
The Hierarchical Region of North Corfu emerged from the merging of three Hierarchical Regions for practical and administrative reasons and a new Hierarchical Commissioner Elder Fr. Spyridon Provatas was appointed. He took over the responsibility of the ministry and who was presented to the Clergy of the Region by the Bishop, Mr. Nektarios.
His Eminence stated in this regard that the new Hierarchical Commissioner with his experience, disposition for ministry, knowledge and love for the Church undertakes with seriousness and responsibility to manage a series of practical, administrative and spiritual issues of the Parishes in which most Immediate response and response is required as distance from the center is always a critical factor.
Addressing the meeting of the Clergy, His Eminence referred to the new data created by the multiple lock dawns, to the new reality that emerges in everyone’s lives, while at the same time giving the basic directions for the spiritual and liturgical ministry of the new missionary year. He particularly stressed the need for reorganization with a sense of responsibility on the part of the Clergy and their collaborators of the catechism, liturgical, charitable and social ministry of the Parishes.
The Hierarchical Commissioner father Elder Spyridon Provatas in his speech to the Clergy referred to practical issues related to the good administration and management of the Parishes and urged them to develop their talents, to be willing, consistent and to adopt good practices in keeping books and records. their parishes, to cooperate with each other and listen to the needs and problems that people face in their Parishes and, most importantly, not to hesitate to communicate directly with him.
After the end of the meeting and as a culmination of a harmonious and creative collaboration, a small reception was held.
