Celebrating the removal of Saint Christodoulos’ relics in Corfu

His Eminence the Bishop of Corfu, Paxos & Diapontian Islands Mr. Nektarios collaborated with the Fathers of the Holy Monastery of Agios Theodoros, in the Holy Monastery of SaintTheodoroi in Kamara. With His Eminence, the Archdeacon of the Holy Metropolis, Father Christodoulos Triantaphyllos, who bears the name of Saint Christodoulos, which was given to him in honor of the blessed  late Archbishop Christodoulos, also participated in the Divine Liturgy.

At the end, His Eminence also performed the sacred memorial service of the blessed Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, the venerable Christodoulos. In his speech, His Eminence praised the personality of Saint Christodoulos who left Mount Latros and settled on the desert island of Patmos, where there was the sacred cave of the revelation of the Evangelist John and next to it he rebuilt the unbuilt Theologos, where after a tour of Osios in Evia where he slept, there the fathers of the monastery transported the holy relic of Osios and buried it in the external area of the Holy Monastery which he had rebuilt. This event is celebrated by our church today and he wished his archdeacon to receive the virtues of the Saint, but also the love for the church and the homeland and the strength of the blessed Archbishop Christodoulos. Mention with gratitude and respect the person of the blessed Archbishop Christodoulos for the personality that God gave to His church and that the blessed Archbishop honored and exalted it and gave the fullness of faith and hope to our brothers in difficulty. He especially loved the youth and approached the various problems and mentalities of the time. The vision of the Archbishop awakened the consciences of the people of our homeland, with the result that today young and old are looking for him as we experience situations about which the blessed Archbishop spoke prophetically.
