BISHOP OF CORFU, MR. NEKTARIOS: WE WILL NOT BEND TO FEAR, WE WILL REMAIN FAITHFUL
On the morning of Thursday, September 24, 2020, His Eminence the Bishop of Corfu, Paxos and the Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios, officiated at the celebrating Holy Monastery of Panagia Myrtidiotissa in the Vatos area.
Addressing the fraternity and the faithful, Mr. Nektarios stressed that the Virgin Mary urges us not to bend from the difficulties we experience in our times, because she herself mediates for us. The worship of her holy image in the ancient monastery of Myrtidiotissa is a sign of the miracle of the love of God and the Most Holy Theotokos for our world. And we need God’s grace in our day, when a systematic effort is made to remove us from the faith and fellowship with God and our neighbor. Temptation terrifies us. Temptation struggles to make us beasts of it, through propaganda to the detriment of the Church, to the detriment of divine communion, to the detriment of faith. But we will not bow down!
The Virgin Mary, concluded Mr. Nektarios, is the one who urges us today to make the decision to return to the grace of God. At the end of the divine service, the Metropolitan of Corfu ordained Mr. Manolis Antoniou as a reader.
