A Divine Liturgy was made at the First Cemetery of Athens by His Eminence the Bishop of Corfu, Paxos and the Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios on the morning of Thursday, January 28, 2021, to mark the 13th anniversary of the late Blessed Archbishop of Greece and the Archbishop of Athens, Christodoulos. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence preceded the Memorial for the Blessed Archbishop, which was attended by Their Eminences the Bishops of Vrestheni Mr. Theoklitos, Serres and Nigriti Mr. Theologos and Syros Mr. Dorotheos, while His Eminence Kaisariani, Vyronos and Ymittou Mr. Daniel and Fanariou Mr. Agathangelos. Clergy ordained by the Blessed Archbishop participated and prayed together, while the spiritual children of the Blessed One also attended. The Metropolitan of Vrestheni, Mr. Theoklitos, spoke appropriately at the Divine Liturgy, while the Metropolitan of Corfu spoke during the memorial service for the rest of the soul of the blessed archbishop.

Mr. Nektarios, excited, pointed out that we all owe gratitude to our spiritual fathers, we must give them recognition both in life and after their death and ask for their wish. Blessed Christodoulos was a great spiritual father. This is testified by the High Priests ordained by him, but also by the priests who serve the Church, both those who attended the memorial service, and others from all over Greece and the world, who pray for the rest of his soul, remember him with tears. and that they would like to be present, although this was not possible this year amid the difficulties of the coronavirus test.

Christodoulos was a great religious leader, a distinguished personality. He fought for the Church. He experienced a lot of bitterness in his life, precisely because of his personality and their fighting spirit. His value was acknowledged and those who slandered him, insulted him, criticized him alive. He risked in favor of the Church. She put her chest forward to defend her place in our society, made many people return to God, especially the young people she loved dearly, and had the gift of speaking the language that young people understand, building valuable and unique channels of communication.

But he was also a Nationalist! He loved our homeland, he dedicated himself to it, he awakened it with his words and example, he asked our homeland to keep its identity and it remains unforgettable! He may have left for eternity, but he is present in our lives by his example! He was a model of faith and ministry that inspired!

We are sure, Mr. Nektarios pointed out, that even in the heavenly altar he prays for all of us, for the Church of Greece, for our homeland, which is still severely wintering, and that his soul is resting in a land of the living, the one that followed and showed with his life to all of us!
