Bishop of Corfu, Mr. Nektarios: The cross of Defamation leads to Resurrection

His Eminence the Bishop of Corfu, Paxos & Diapontian Islands Mr. Nektarios on the feast of the removal of the holy relics of St. Nektarios of Pentapolis, made an all-night Divine Liturgy in the holy chapel of St. Nektarios, in the Church of Saint Theodoroi, in Kamara, where he lives.

Delegations of monks from the monasteries of Corfu participated in the all-night Divine Liturgy, while teachers of Byzantine music together with their students chanted in a Mount Athos chanting style. At the end, His Eminence thanked the monks and nuns who participated in the prayer, as well as the chanters who chanted in the Divine Liturgy, but also the fathers who collaborated. In his greeting, he pointed out that slander is a great danger to the person who struggles in the spiritual life and underlined the verse from the book of psalms “keep me from slandering people and keep your commandments”. Saint Nektarios was the one who lifted the cross of slander throughout his life, but he did not give in to this burden and God glorified him with holiness, so that all modern disciples of Christ and fighters would be taught that without lifting of our cross we can not reach our Golgotha and therefore we will not taste our Resurrection.
