Bishop of Corfu, Mr. Nektarios: ” Centre of our faith is our heart”

In his greeting, the Bishop of Corfu, after thanking the Bishop of Dimitriada and Almyros Mr. Ignatios, while expressing his great joy and emotion in his homeland, analyzed the Apostolic cut of the day, noting that Saint Paul in His letter shows his practical love and spiritual anguish for his compatriots, who did not accept Jesus Christ as the Messiah, but led him to the scaffold of the Cross. The Jewish people were satisfied with the detailed observance of the Mosaic Law, and thus believed that they were justified before God. But the Apostle Paul emphasizes to us that justification does not come through our works, but through our warm faith in the Lord. The heart of faith is our heart. The Word of God is as close to us as the mouth is away from the heart. Human’s union with God, which is the desire, is accomplished by confession and faith in the Son and Word of God.In addition, His Eminence pointed out that unfortunately today, along with the war on Orthodox faith, the depreciation of love for Homeland is coming. All of these attacks are, of course, part of the realization of globalization and the New Order of Things, where it is attempted for the Orthodox faith to be replaced by Religion, and for our country the removal of borders. All who work out such dark designs forget that God himself set the boundaries between peoples.

Concluding, Mr. Nektarios urged the faithful to continue zealously struggling spiritually, with confession and faith in Jesus Christ.
