BISHOP OF CORFU: LET’S RECOGNIZE GOD IN OUR LIVES

On the morning of Sunday, February 14, 2021, His Eminence the Bishop of Corfu, Paxos and the Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios, officiated at the Holy Pilgrimage of Saint Spyridon.

Speaking to the faithful, Mr. Nektarios was inspired by the Gospel of Canaan which was read in the Divine Liturgy and stressed that Christ does not oblige people to follow him by violating their freedom, but calls them, without binding them.

But the Lord is attracted to humility. The Church Fathers report that God rejoices when people defeat him in the struggle with him through humiliation. So he embraces them and heals them.

Christ asks us to recognize Him by the measure of faith and devotion. As we approach him, his greatness and compassion appear. As we move away from him, see short-sightedly and hope only in our works, then we lose the wealth of spiritual goods that come from accepting God.

Modern man sometimes seeks God and sometimes the worldly mind. He builds in himself the world of decay, of sin, of fall. But then he becomes frustrated and realizes that his life has no meaning.

Let us discover Christ, who is near. The kingdom of heaven remains within us. Let us tear down the world of decay, sin, and fall, and the Lord will strengthen us.
