2nd online Meeting of the Parents’s School in the Holy Metropolis of Corfu
On Sunday, March 7, 2021, in the context of the operation of the Parents’ School of the Holy Metropolis of Corfu, Paxos and the Diapontian Islands, the second online meeting was held with the participation of parents and couples. The official guest and speaker was Fr. Antonios Kalligeris, Teacher-Head of the Pastoral Marriage and Family Directorate-Chairman of the Fourth Committee on Women’s Affairs-Author and Married Priest of six children. The theme he developed was: “The cultivation of married life through personal development”.
Through his presentation, Fr. Antonios gave the participants to understand the content of the concepts “Marriage”, “Family” and “Marriage” today. He stressed that the family is characterized by liquidity, that is, the change of roles of man and woman, that family means cultivating the identity of all its members. He also talked about the family in yesterday and today, the meaning of individualism within it and the foundations it must have to endure. How can a healthy relationship be developed through love, self-revelation and how the other will build an authentic self. The answer is to know the gifts God has given me and to stand up to Him and not to myself arrogantly like the Pharisee, to fight without fear and watch out for the great enemy which is habit, confinement, stagnation and that I’m okay.
He also stressed that the materials that the marital relationship needs are: to believe, to listen to talk, to choose, to look for where our treasure is, to change. Closing his presentation, Fr. Antonios referred to texts in the New Testament and the Church Fathers about the healthy relationship between the couple and the family.
Immediately after the end of the speech, his EMinence, the Bishop, Mr. Nektarios spoke. After thanking Fr. Antonios for his very nice, brilliant and illustrative speech, the participants and those in charge of the Parents’ School of our Holy Metropolis, he spoke about the dissolution of our family and society through the so-called cohabitation agreements and other factors. . He stated that we must control ourselves, do our self-criticism, see what the relationship of the Church is with people’s lives, how we will stop the war against the family. The Church is the one who gives strength to the society, it is ahead of the difficult situations of the family. In closing, His Holiness stressed that today many young people turn to the Church and thirst for the word of God.
Afterwards, Fr. Antonios Kalligeris answered questions from the participants and there was a small informative dialogue on what was said.
The third online meeting of the School of Parents of our Holy Metropolis will take place on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at 8 pm with a speaker Fr. Charalambos Papadopoulos, Fr. “Trust in the couple’s relationship”.
